I'm having a crappy day so I thought I'd share songs for crappy days with you. Unless specified, these are links to YouTube videos so you can enjoy them yourself. They're songs I listen to when I'm feeling particularly hopeless, so they're probably a weird collection but they make me feel better...

Amy's Song, by Cold February (link to my dropbox because I don't think there's a copy of this anywhere on the net and it's not available for purchase anywhere that I can find either)
Always Be Brave, by Steve Schalchlin (link to archive.org)
Brave, by Josh Groban
Brave, by Sara Bareilles
The Coolest Girl, by Darren Criss
The Doctor and I, by John Barrowman
Enough, by The Mrs
Firework, by John Barrowman (because I prefer low pitched voices)
The Greatest Discovery, by Elton John with the MSO
It Gets Better, Broadway Sings for the Trevor Project
Not Alone, by Darren Criss
Proud, by Heather Small
You Are Loved (Don't Give Up), by Josh Groban
Your Song, by Elton John
Beautiful Child, Pauley Perette[*]

Finally, this one is not on this playlist because it sounds wrong, but Got Your Back, by Matt the Electrician is also superawesome and I wish there was a cover that fit in better musically.

I'm going to curl up in bed with a hot pack and a cold pack and 6 pillows and two ankle splints and some codeine now. Send good thoughts!

- Ricky

PS
I'm fine, really, it's just a bad day. No panicking, OK?

[*] This also has Kirsten Vangness in the backing vocals, which makes the bit of my brain that screams "fanfic crossover!!!" very happy. Their characters Garcia and Abby would get on famously.

those songs are awesome; some of them made me cry. and i'd only heard of one of them before, so thank you for sharing them!

i made a playlist after my second surgery (and revised it somewhat after Superstorm Sandy). the only song from my list that might be appropriate for you, though, is "Fucking Perfect", by P!ink (that's the way she spells it. i can't find an uncensored version on YouTube any more, but i'm sure you know the song.

anyway, i hope you're feeling at least a little bit better by the time you read this.
*hugs*

some of your songs also made me grin - in particular, the one with all the people just getting up and dancing, and specifically the very large young man, who has some awesome moves - and then the grey-haired lady joins all the dancing people, hesitantly at first, then full-tilt like the rest of them!

yeah, the video to "Fuckin' Perfect" is pretty harsh (although it resonated deeply with some of my own past)... but the song itself is so positive!

*lots of hugs*

thank you so much for this. I've been trying hard to resist listening to depressing February songs (what's the southern hemisphere equivalent month for February? Is August equivalently glum? Not that August is particularly cheerful here, either).

This should get me through the morning.

Sending you love and hugs.

Exit music (For a film), by Radiohead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMqXj-eVCjI

this was used (in either an episode of "Father Ted", or "The IT Crowd") as an example of the most depressing-sounding song there is. B minor, i think.

oh, wait.. it's supposed to make you feel happier? uh... *checks collection*... okay, give me a minute here..

er..

One day, I was asked for help by a customer, so I went around to help her with the case. She points to one of the cakes and says, "What's wrong with that cake?"
"What?" I asked, since I could see nothing wrong with it.
"It's so dark, why is it like that? Is it burnt?" I looked at the cake again and say to her,

"Ma'am, that's a chocolate cake."
