What if you could predict the future perfectly, but nobody around you could ever know about it because part of what you could see would happen was that you would never tell anybody.
it sounds slightly less frustrating than "fivesight" - that's a form of precognition in which you can't take direct action to prevent the disaster you foresee. but if you just can't tell anybody about it, you can probably (at least in some cases) figure out what you have to change to prevent or mitigate it.
of course, there's the Greek original, Cassandra; her curse was to know the future perfectly, but never be believed :-(
