I'm thinking it's brainfog day ... *everything* on buzzfeed looked interesting today *headdesk*

It amazes me how my tastes change with my level of cognition - on 'brainfoggy' days I happily read buzzfeed and look at lolcats and play stupid flash casual games and watch videos of sporting folk failing in various amusing ways... And on days when I can think, I'm much happier reading articles from longform.org, watching videos university lectures, figuring out programming problems, and things like that.

Took my first dose of Diamox today to see if it had any immediately noticable side-effects. Turns out it's spectacularly good at making Diet Coke taste like it's full of soap! Some googling revealed that making fizzy drinks taste like ass is a specialty of that particular drug, which I am feeling very put out by. I'm in the weird position of craving diet coke but not actually being able to drink it ... feel my WOE!!! It hasn't done anything else so far, but time will tell.

Pottering along slowly, in general. Reduced some med doses, increased others ... the cool weather is doing my good but the forecast is for a few more hot days this week so I'm not looking forward to that.

Much of a muchness. Well, except with no diet coke!

i'd never heard of a drug that had the effect of making carbonated beverages in particular taste bad, so of course i looked it up in Wikipedia. the drug's various beneficial effects come from it interfering with the way the body uses the carbonate radical - and carbonated water is actually "carbonic acid", or H2CO3, so anything fizzy won't be metabolized normally. (i wonder if this effect includes beer and champagne?) i guess you'll just have to content yourself with iced tea and fruit drinks :-(

*lots of hugs*

(represses urge to convince Jeshyr to try, again, the carbonated beverage he prefers)

(incidentally looks up the fictional carbonated beverage from Eve:online)

(the name is very close to a word for something rude)

surely they didn't mean that.
