Dear Self,

Drinking diet coke at 4pm leads to being wide awake at 4 am. You have been warned.

Don't. Do. That. Then.

Love,
Your Sanity

Elmsley Rose ::: Oh. er. you too, huh?

Did have 6 hours waking up constantly, but got sick of it at 3.30am and now on computer. Might embroider later on, if I don't crash. Back on the extra strong Hazelnut coffee!

Definitely overdid it on the sugar and caffeine stakes. Do you know what I had for dinner? Half a box of Cadbury chocolates! It was my b'day - you are allowed to do things like that on your birthday. But an awful lot of sugar in the evening as well then!!!

Like you said *facepalm*

Last night (after a long driving shift on Friday that finished after 11:30pm, six hours' sleep and spending Saturday afternoon walking around London), I went to bed about 11:30pm and put the light out at midnight. I then woke up at 2:30am, briefly looked at the clock and read it as 6:30am (not for the first time), had to go to the loo and then got back into bed and realised it was only 2:50am.

I didn't get back to sleep for nearly half an hour - I was really agitated for some reason and kept twitching, and kept thinking of a news story that got me worked up last year. I finally did manage to get back to sleep again after a while, though.

Sanity may have taught you a lesson this time...but I'm sure there will be more insanity happenings during your life span - it's called 'Life'

1/2 the time I can't remember what I ate the day before...and yesterday is no different.

So far today I have drunk a hot chocolate and eaten a Quakers Cereal/Muesli Bar!

heh. i'm so used to swilling strong tea, it's usually the last thing i drink before going to bed. occasionally i'll even drink some when i wake up in the middle of the "night" (for a fruitbat, that means somewhere around 6 or 7 PM). i think i actually took a sleeping pill with a caffeinated beverage at least once ;-)

the hotel i stayed in in Melbourne provided an electric kettle in the room, along with packets of instant coffee and Lipton tea bags. on my second trip, i brought a box of Red Rose tea bags, which actually have some flavor. when i arrived in Melbourne for the second time, i had only had one cup of tea on the whole flight over (i don't remember why). i went to a little snack-bar place for an early lunch, intending to order a Coke with my meal, but their soft-drink machine was broken. sometime later i went to sleep. i woke up with a weird headache, sort of behind my eyes, and for a moment i was terrified that i was coming down with something, which would have ruined my trip. but then i recognized it as caffeine withdrawal. so i brewed myself a cuppa with two tea bags and half a cup of water, added cold water so i could drink it right away, and in a matter of minutes my headache was gone ;-)

it takes about a day and a half without caffeine before i start to notice symptoms. and i almost always manage to get some more often than that - as i described, it took a concatenation of odd circumstances.

i can't stand the taste of coffee at all, even with milk and/or sugar. even when it's used as an ingredient in a chocolate dessert - "oh, you don't taste the coffee; there's only a little bit, and it just makes the chocolate flavor more intense" - i do taste the coffee, and it ruins the chocolate for me. i have to spit it out and rinse my mouth out to get rid of the nasty coffee flavor.

Coke and other colas are okay, although i don't particularly like sweet things to drink, and i worry about high-fructose corn syrup. or do they make Australian soda with cane sugar?
