Am safely ensconced in the Alfred hospital being dripped on ... Or hooked up to a drip, or something :)

In a noisy bright 4 person ward but am being treated well and it's not too bad.

Yay for 3G wifi modem for iPad - you were all correct and it helps lots.

Miss my cat!!!!!! Poor Ani all alone!

Food sucks, as per expectations ... It is a hospital after all and dinner was something vaguely resembling curry - after years of genuine curry cooked by flatmates and carers from India/Pakistan/Sri Lanka a crappy hospital curry is just not good enough. Also, they served it with mashed potatoes!!!!

Everything hurts, I am way exhausted and wanna go home, and I MISS ANEKIN. So basically, I'm as fine as I expected and don't worry about me :)

Resting now
R

PS
Love and hugs and thanks to commenters. No energy to reply to each but appreciate muchly :) I have best friends ever.

(hey, there's an idea for adaptive computer design - hardware and software that can be used by cats!)

There are phones designed for use by service dogs. If their human's unconscious, they press a big button on the phone, and it dials a designated number for emergencies, and the dog barks into the phone.

that actually makes sense. i've heard of many cases where a pet - not necessarily a service animal, not necessarily a dog - has either knocked the phone off the hook and "just happened" to poke the right button to dial either the operator or the emergency number, or else "answered" a ringing phone by knocking it off the hook, and then barked/meowed/squawked/whatever until the person on the other end realized that the animal was trying to let them know that the human had a problem. making it easier, and deliberately training the animal to do so, makes a lot of sense.

but what i was thinking of was a way to let cats use the internet. i always swore that if my Loki (see userpic) had had thumbs, he'd have built his own webpage ;-)

well, cats will probably figure it out themselves eventually. and, of course, there's Leslie Fish's ongoing project of breeding cats for intelligence and raising the kittens in an intellectually stimulating environment; the last i heard, she was (seriously) starting to breed for opposable thumbs...

Yay for internet in hospital! And yes, sounds like typical hospital accommodations, down to terrible food. ;) Looking forward to Skype when you're home and having some more energy. Loooooove you! xxx

Also, whoever heard of curry and mashed potatoes?

Mashed potatoes

Never mind curry and mashed potatoes, I'd like to have a stern word with whoever first thought of mashed potatoes, full stop.

I haven't had them in years, but I remember having them many times when I was a kid. I know "bangers and mash" is an English tradition but it didn't do much for me. Wet, no taste to speak of, mushy texture, with thin gravy. After a while, my Mum started mixing onions in with mine and I pretended I liked them. But mash is mash.

Nothing goes well with them.

This is not an urgent question, respond whenever you eventually feel like it. :-)

Which wireless thingy did you get, and from whom? A MiFi?

Hope you're recovered and home with kitty soon! I'm glad the ward is not too bad, since the potential for sensory overload has made me really, really want to avoid them. Net access would no doubt help make things bearable. :) Hospital food, bah.
