Thank you [livejournal.com profile] acelightning for mentioning hairdressers that will come to people's houses - I can't afford those but it did give me an idea! The hospital where I have been having appointments every two weeks most of this year has a hairdresser on the premises - I bet they're pretty much used to people with odd requirements, since they're physically inside the hospital so they must treat a lot of patients.

I've never been there because although I spend a lot of time waiting around at the hospital it's never been predictable before, so I haven't been able to make appointments. But now I'm taking the Imuran I need to have blood tests 2 hours before my actual specialist appointments, so I know I'll be waiting around for that two hour period at the very least. Sounds like a plan to me :)

Now I just need this stupid haircut to grow out so they have something to work with!!

My neck and shoulder are pretty much back to it's normal level of pain today, definitely a plus. I am still having to stay away from any crochet, sewing, or other craft-type-stuff on account of the neck/shoulder problems this last month or so, which is really hard and quite depressing, but at least the haircut doesn't seem to have caused any long term setback. I can't type too much either as that flares it up, but journalling a bit is OK.

I'm trying to figure out how to make my computer pretend it's got a graphics tablet attached so that I can draw with my trackpad - stay tuned!

r

Glad you've plotted a solution! *ponders what you mean by tablet pretending - trying to get pressure sensitivity or something?*

Relieved to hear that the neck and shoulders have recovered a little.

Might be worth your while to call a few mobile hairdressers. One mum used to get to come to our place was heaps cheaper than the salons.

always glad to be able to help! i think it's pretty likely that the hospital hairdresser will be able to deal with your needs. and it's not as if you need a "set" or anything. a lot of older women - older than me! - want very traditional hair styles, done with curlers and hairspray and stuff, but i would assume you just want it cut and shaped so that it's neat and not in your way. (although you looked cute when you had the buzz-cut, too.)

hope your neck and shoulders feel better soon!
*hugs*

There *has* to be a "Jim's Hairdressing" franchise. Little green trailer van, the stencil logo, the works. They've probably got all of the old whipper-snippers and hedge-trimmers from the "Jim's Mowing" services.
