Slightly odd self-care

This is my official week of unsubscribing from ALL THE THINGS.

Well, not quite all of them ... but mailing lists, email newsletters, email advertisements, RSS feeds, DW communities, reading list people, etc. Pretty much for each one I'm thinking "will I really miss this if I don't see it?" and unsubscribing unless the answer is that I would hate to be without it.

I've been overloaded with information since I'm sicker than 6 months ago so I can't deal with quite as much, and also it creeps up so easily in this age of information!

So yes, if you notice I've unsubscribed from your Dreamwidth or LiveJournal blog, this is why and please take no offence. You're welcome to keep reading my stuff if you'd like to, I don't lock things so I don't use access lists (LJ: "friends lock") and I'm happy to have people reading anything they enjoy.

What's your oddest-seeming method of self-care??

Hugs,

I'm doing the same darn thing over in my journal. Your entries are so interesting — and so close to my situation — that I can't unsub them. So there :-)

Self-care is moving clothing that doesn't fit today's body out of easy reach. Minimizes confronting body hatred.

I know exactly what you mean. In the last few weeks I've changed most of the group settings on Facebook to no email notifications. And in google reader I just mark everything as read, except for about 3 things.

There is a fine line between keeping informed and being overloaded.

Hey - that Facebook thing happened to me yesterday. Very annoying.

I really need to do this. I'm officially in Overwhelmed Land.

I'm glad you're doing this. I need to think about my self-care routines.

Thanks for the seed for a really chewy thought.

i'm glad i don't post to my journal very often, so you won't be tempted to unsubcribe...

i suck at self-care, as shown by my not seeking medical attention until my cancer had reached Stage 2. (well, and also not being able to afford medical care - insert rant on America's lack of basic health coverage here.) sometimes i seem to need to be "given permission" to eat or sleep, rather than continue doing whatever i was doing that was far more important than such self-indulgent wastes of time :-(

*hugs*

well, surgery and radiation made it rather imperative to take more care of myself... but i'm all better now...

A couple of years ago I stopped renewing almost all my dead tree subscriptions. Saves money, as well as time. I also threw out all the back issues I'd been saving.

*sigh* I should probably give serious consideration to doing the same; the browser session I'm procrastinating on re-opening had 348 tabs in it...

It's hard when journalling is my best connection to people spread far across the globe, though. I admire your resolve in following through on the hard decisions.

I really need to do the same - I can't keep up with my DW subscriptions or my email notifications. :(
